Summary: he doesn't tell her, but Yoo Mia sees the subtle signs.
Disclaimer: these characters and the universe of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint do not belong to me, but to Sing-Shong
notes1: double drabble
Yoo Mia suspected something the moment her brother gruffly apologized for not preparing her normal eggs and toast, tucking a granola bar into her lunch bag to eat on the way to school instead. She doesn’t need home-cooked breakfast every day, and she’d never be angry at her brother over it. But Yoo Joonghyuk never passes up an opportunity to cook. It’s his passion and how he meditates; and with his schedule, he needs that time. His hair that morning was naturally tossed, not its usual style, as if he’d slept through his alarm, which led Yoo Mia to scribble in her history notes the conclusion to her deductions. Big brother was sick.
He picked her up after school—another confirmation.
“I can walk myself home now, remember?” she asked, but she grabbed his hand and swung it between them anyway. Maybe she shouldn’t have, since his hands were kinda clammy, but she wouldn’t mind missing her upcoming math test if she did catch anything.
After some strong words and Yoo Joonghyuk crumpling into his bed, Yoo Mia makes dakjook for dinner. Her snobby brother eats no one’s food but that prepped by his own hand—and his little sister’s.
